Ryan and Maranda met on a dating app called Bumble! Maranda sent the first message and commented on the picture of Ryan in his overalls. From there, they texted for about a week and talked on the phone a few times before Ryan asked Maranda out for a pizza date at Hideaway Pizza. Maranda loved how funny Ryan was and how easy it was to joke around with him. After that, they went to mini golf at Pop Stroke, where Ryan found out how bad Maranda is at putting and how loud she can be. After the date Ryan told Maranda that she was a very special girl and he couldn't wait to get to know her. After that, they were inseparable. They went out every night for the next two weeks. After only a few weeks of dating they both knew that they were going to get married.

Ryan wanted to surprise Maranda with this proposal. Surprising Maranda is really hard. On a trip to San Antonio to run a Half Marathon and visit Maranda's sister, they convinced Maranda to take a walk through the Botanical Gardens. Maranda was super confused by Ryan wanting to go to the Botanical Gardens. Both Ryan and Maranda's parents were waiting there for them. When Ryan spotted their parents he quickly dropped down on one knee and proposed! He was nervous that Maranda was going to spot their parents and know what was up. Maranda was super surprised! The beginning of forever!
