Their first dog, Shela, unexpectedly passed away shortly after Tyler and Rachel got engaged. Some time later, they welcomed Iris to their family.

Iris' name is a tribute to Shela. Iris is the Greek goddess of rainbows and is said to hold the rainbow bridge.
