We met as strangers passing each other by, walking our dogs. Chit-chatted about our jobs, dogs, and if we lived in the area. We found out soon enough that we were actually neighbors! After some time, we became really close friends.
We met some friends at a bar in midtown Miami called Gramps. It was night time, string lights hanging from tree to tree, and music playing in the background. I was telling Jehan a story, when all of a sudden, he made his move and kissed me --- just like in the movies! The loud music suddenly fell silent and everything around became non-existent (in my head). The first words I said to him afterwards was "that was brave". We both laughed and we knew that this was something more than just a friendship.
We flew to Atlanta for Jehan's parent's anniversary, his father's birthday, and my mother's birthday in February 2020. We had an amazing brunch at Citizen Soul to celebrate these important people in our lives. Little did I know, there was going to be a special surprise. Jehan wanted to take some family pictures outside by beautiful trees and a large bench. On the last picture, there was Jehan kneeling with the beautiful ring asking me to marry him!
