We met online via match.com. Donny messaged me on November 11th and we began texting shortly after. Our first date was on November 26th at Harvest House and Barley & Board in Denton. As you can see, this is where the debate of "what day did we meet" begins. I believe you can't say you started dating someone without actually going on a date. Donny, however, likes to say the day he messaged altered the rest of his life and began our journey together, so he believes the 11th was the beginning of our relationship. Honestly, Donny's version is much more sentimental and romantic so maybe we should just go with that!
As many of you know, I'm originally from Wisconsin so, by birth-right, I'm a Green Bay Packers fan (as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Donny finds this one of my least desirable qualities). As luck would have it, Donny has an uncle who is a Packers season ticket holder! Upon learning I was a fan, Uncle Dave offered us tickets to one of the games and we jumped at the chance to go to the infamous Lambeau Field. Ironically, the game fell on November 11, 2018 which, if you ask Donny, was our 2-year anniversary. The night before the game, we were watching a movie in our rental cottage and Donny gave me a gift for the game the next day. I opened it to find a Green Bay Packers jersey with the number 87 (my go-to exaggeration number I use in all my story telling) and McLeod listed on the back. To be honest with you, it didn't cross my mind as significant that it was his last name and not mine. Turns out it was because when I turned to thank him, he was sitting next to me holding the ring! It probably took me a full five second for all the dots to connect in my head and focus and that’s when he said "I want to marry you". To which I replied "shit". The next few moments are a blur... I covered my face holding back tears, Donny said sweet things like "I want to call you my wife" and I’m sure some other really amazing things (like I said-blur). When I looked back at him, he was on his knee... And then he officially asked and this time I didn’t curse at him, I said yes!
