We first met as classmates in PT school. We liked each other from a distance initially, but it didn't take long before we started spending time together outside of class. After a few hikes, some concerts, several church gatherings, and a game or two of soccer, we started dating on April 20, 2018.
During our three years in San Antonio, we frequented a park outside of San Antonio called Frederick Wilderness. Our first date happened to be here, where we went on a nice long hike around God's beautiful creation. On the morning of January 12, 2019 (about 9 months after we started dating), we woke up early to run some hills before heading to a local charity organization. At the end of the last hill, once Abby was all out of breath and completely covered in sweat, Matt popped the question!
Due to the complicated nature of dual-military relationships, it was prudent for us to be married "on paper" in order to request that we be co-located for our first assignment out of PT school. On February 15, 2019, we were legally married by a local judge at the San Antonio courthouse.
Our wedding was originally scheduled to be in Colorado surrounded by our closest friends and family in the summer of 2020, but our plans ended up changing slightly due to the whole global pandemic debacle. At the time, the DoD had issued a "STOP movement", meaning that neither of us could travel outside the state of Texas. Thankfully, our sweet families traveled across the country to join us in San Antonio and we were still able to have a small, intimate ceremony on July 3, 2020.
Let's party!!!! We've been waiting for this for so long and we cannot wait to celebrate with all of you wonderful people. It's about time!
