In general we recommend semi-formal attire for the wedding and reception. Women - You are more than welcome to wear western clothing! If you choose to wear a dress, we ask that it is floor length with short or long sleeves. You should also bring a scarf or shawl with you, so you can cover your head. You are welcome to also wear Punjabi suit if you want!
Here are some formal rules for the Gurdwara: 1. Upon coming to the Gurdwara, you must cover your head with a scarf (women) or handkerchief (men) and remove your shoes. We will have extra handkerchiefs if you forget! Please remember that your head must remain covered at all times, someone will remind you kindly if you forget. 2. Please wash your hands after you remove your shoes. You can then proceed to the Langaar (food) hall. 3. After you eat breakfast, please wash your hands again. 4. You can then go upstairs to the prayer hall. Please make a monetary offering and bow your head. You can then sit down on the left (women) or the right (men). 5. The bride and groom's families will sit in the front, so please make sure to leave room! 6. During Ardaas (prayer), at the end of the ceremony, please stand up, if you are able. 7. When they are offering Prasad (sweet offering) please accept with both of your hands. **Please do not eat meat the day of coming to the gurdwara. If you eat meat the day before, please shower.
