FAQs

Question

How are we getting into Tijuana?

Answer

We will provide transportation for you to and from the airport. If you drive, there are a number of extended parking lots for $5-$8 per day. We will come get you and drive you into Tijuana. You can, of course, drive into Tijuana - just don't forget to get Mexican Insurance first!

Question

How are we going to get around while we're there?

Answer

As much as possible, we will take you where you want to go. There is also Uber and Didi here as well.

Question

Is it safe?

Answer

--Are you a criminal? No, then you're safe. --Are you thinking about starting to sell drugs while you're down here? No, then you're safe. --Do you think you might want to take a walk in the middle of the night in a bad area? No, then you're safe. --Are you looking to buy drugs, start a gang, or become a kingpin? No, then you're safe. All joking aside, like every city, there are places that you shouldn't be going into unless you're looking for trouble. The hotels and the venue are not in downtown Tijuana; they're in the suburbs. You'll find that the people you run into here are kind and helpful.

Question

Can we drink the water?

Answer

Yes! Most hotels will provide bottled water for drinking in the room. For brushing teeth, if there is no bottled water, most hotels have filtered water.

Question

Can I eat the food?

Answer

Yes! Restaurants here follow food safety guidelines as well! They don't want their customers getting sick and losing their reputation. Street vendors are the same - they don't want to risk losing their client over a bad taco!

Question

I don't speak spanish - will I have a problem?

Answer

Rarely, there isn't a single person around you who speaks some level of English, especially here next to the border. You'll find the people here are patient and helpful when it comes to communicating.

Question

What if I get hurt while I'm there?

Answer

What the heck are you going to be doing? Seriously, though, we have doctors here - and you can be transported back into the US (don't get hurt before the wedding, though, we've got stuff to do).

Question

Can I buy a whole bunch of medicine to take back home?

Answer

For medications that are controlled in the US they can ask for a prescription when you cross the border. For uncontrolled medication, you're generally fine unless you're taking a quantity that seems suspiciously large for one person. Many of the antibiotics that you used to be able to walk in and buy in Mexico simply are now required to have prescriptions, so you're not going to be able to take Aunt May a year's supply anymore.
