Towards the end of the school year, I had some extra PTO that was going to expire and wanted to use it. We had been dating for about a month, and really barely knew each other. (Greg didn't even meet my mom yet!) I asked Greg if he would be down to drive to Nashville with me the following weekend. Greg was totally on board; he even borrowed his mom's car so we had reliable transportation. When we got down there and checked into our hotel, we quickly realized why we found it for such a great deal. Giving it one star would have been too generous. Regardless, we made the best of a bad situation and enjoyed Nashville. We had planned to leave on Sunday, so I could return to work on Monday. Saturday night we went down to Broadway, had a few drinks, and had a great time. Later on in the night, Greg realizes the car key fob is missing. We retraced our steps going to every bar in Nashville asking if it had been turned in. We were out of luck. We actually ended up ubering back to the hotel , and getting the car towed back to the hotel the next morning. Mind you, it was Sunday and every dealership was closed and none of the local locksmiths had the proper equipment to reprogram a push-to-start fob. There was an 8.5 hour drive back to Illinois, and I had to teach the next morning. We explored our options and settled on waiting until Monday to go to a dealership and pay the $400+ dollars to get a new fob. After accepting our fate, we realized we had another night in Nashville! We made the most of it, went back to Broadway, listened to great music, and enjoyed another night together. Although we asked all the bars the night before for the key, I had the idea to ask again at the bar we were at when we realized the key was missing in the first place. The server called over the manager and he asked us to describe the key... Greg and I looked at each other like "there is no way in hell they have this key....". A few minutes later, the manager came back WITH OUR KEY FOB!!! We were beyond elated that we no longer needed to worry about getting a new key the next day and were able to truly enjoy our (new) last day in Nashville. While this trip was beyond stressful, we really made the absolute best of it and credit it to where we fell in love.
