For both of us, this night was nothing more than another night out at the bar with friends. For Adam, he was celebrating his best man's 23rd Birthday in California, where he had just recently moved to after graduating college. Him and his best man were new to the town and didn't have any friends (nothing a few tequila's couldn't fix). For Amanda, it was a night that was supposed to be spent in downtown Campbell. But, when their favorite bar was closed, they decided what better place to go on a Friday night than THE magical Temple Night Club. As the story goes, Adam and Chris are at the bar getting drinks. The bar was packed with people of all different ethnicities. Until, out of the corner of their eyes, they saw a few white women out on the dance floor. Right away, Adam and Chris turn their swag on and proceeded to go talk to these wonderful women. They danced the night away and little did Adam know, one of those ladies is who he was going to spend the rest of his life with. We spent the next day at Santa Cruz beach talking about life and what brought us out to California and now here we are six years later, still in California. The rest is history!
To pull off any proposal is no small task. But, to pull off a proposal without Amanda Cinelli finding out is the equivalent of lighting striking the same spot 4 times - almost impossible. Every year since we met, it's the Cinelli tradition to head to New York City to celebrate Thanksgiving. We do New York City how it should be done. We check into the Plaza Hotel two days before thanksgiving, find the best rooftop bars, explore Central Park and spend time enjoying each others company. Knowing how special of a holiday it was to the Cinelli family, Adam planned to make 2023's Thanksgiving one to remember. After months of coordination with his family and sisters, he planned to have his whole family fly to New York City, without Amanda knowing, and surprise her at a glass rooftop at sunset in Times Square for a proposal! Normally a plan involving so many people, with so many different variables, something is bound to go wrong. This was one of those days where everything went PERFECT! It started off as a normal Friday - what do you do after Thanksgiving in New York City? Black Friday Shopping! We went to all the different stores and did our normal shopping routine. Meanwhile Adam is texting his whole family - red alert, do not head to Nordstroms, now wait don't go into the mall, etc. By this time, Adam's family had all arrived into New York and it was a game of avoiding Amanda but still get your shopping done. Then, the tricky part came. How was Adam going to get dressed and meet Amanda at a rooftop bar without her knowing?.... Once again, Racquetball comes to the rescue. Adam told Amanda he had to go train for his upcoming tournament and he would meet them back at the hotel to head out to drinks. Adam left the mall, grabbed his suit real quick, went to the gym to take a picture, turned off his location, and headed to his family's hotel to get ready. Once getting ready, Adam told Amanda some members at the gym knew him from the pro circuit and he had to play some games with them, so he would meet them at the bar for drinks. Meanwhile Adam and his family were heading to the rooftop bar for the proposal! Amanda's family played it perfect and let us know when they were in route and when they were coming up the elevator. Amanda was in shock as she turned the corner seeing the proposal and Adam's whole family. We had an unforgettable night with both of our families present and will remember that day for the rest of our lives!
