This is a long-time stomping grounds for Rachel's family and MT locals. It's a mild/moderate hike with beautiful views of the Kootenai river, wildlife, and an exhilarating walk across the bridge if you're brave enough!
Ross Creek Cedars Scenic Area

A nice woodland walk, like a smaller version of the Redwoods. There's a chance it might be closed/covered in snow by October. It's hard to tell in Montana.
