It all started the spring of 2012 in the concrete jungle and loveless streets of Brooklyn! As destiny would have it, Pierre, a young Creole NoLa native, and Manfred (Manny), a young French-Creole man newish to the US (both not looking for love), on separate journeys to Brooklyn, happened to move to the same neighborhood one block away from each other. Manny and Pierre connected on a “hookup” app and quickly found a match in one another. It was love at first night although they did everything to deny it. In order to play it cool, they proceeded their friendship but kept it very casual. Pierre made the first move and professed his love for Manny. Caught off guard, but feeling the same way, Manny pretended he did not hear him. The next morning, Pierre reminded him that he loved him and demanded a response. Manfred shared that he was also in love with him as well. Date after date, conversation after conversation, they both fell more and more in love with each other. As time went on, there were constant hints regarding spending the rest of their lives together. They have a connection and that connection was not to be broken no matter the trials and obstacles in their way. Rooted in love and faith, Manfred decided to take the next step. Seven years later, it was time to promote themselves from lovers to husbands. During their vacation to Hakone, Japan overlooking Mount Fuji, Manny surprised Pierre by getting down on one knee and could only muster “Will you?…” Pierre quickly said OF COURSE! Not to be outdone, Pierre, a few months later, also would get down on one knee, at the Reunion Tower in Dallas, Texas overlooking the city and proposed. Whether in Japan or the US, both proposals represented their personal love for traveling the world and being on top of the world. For some it may be love at first sight, but for Manny and Pierre it was love at first night! As Sade always sings “this is no ordinary love”. #HeBangsLouis
