We got married in a very small ceremony on the coast of Honoka'a in Hawaii. This is a special place for both of us. We got married by our close friend Anthony Kwon near a small private waterfall with just close family in attendance. We kept it small so we could have a quiet moment just for us, but now we are ready to celebrate with all the people we love!
Wes and I met in medical school — he was the wild Wyoming boy. Calm. Outdoorsy. Desperately to learn to surf. She was Hawaii-raised — ocean-loving, sunshine-dependent, and also way overcommited in medical school. Naturally, they were drawn to each other. Friends for almost all of medical school they decided to try things out just before matching into residents in different parts of the country. She matched in Oregon. He matched in California. Cue long-distance residency. Coordinating schedules for two residents wasn't easy and often required last minute impulse flight bookings and red eye flights right into shifts. But it worked! Somewhere between all the airport reunions/good byes, grueling shifts, there was the realization that we were made for each other. So we did it. We got married.
