--Time for wedding #2 --The Sequel

May 2015. Sonya was new to LA and Mandy just burst out of the closet, which, of course, brought them both to the same lesbian singles event. And what do lesbians do? They move quickly. And what’s the best way to date quickly? Speed dating! Mandy was intrigued by Sonya’s confidence and getting right into the conversation (Sonya had been to a few speed dating events by that time). Sonya would never forget Mandy’s pink hair, gorgeous smile, and cool vibe. Circumstances prevented them from connecting beyond that “first date,” but as they both truly believe now, fate wasn’t quite ready for them to fall in love yet... May 2018. Fast forward 3 years later and they found each other again... on Tinder. There was something about Mandy’s profile that drew Sonya in; photos with Pippa made Mandy swipe right (Sonya was not new to dating apps 😉). Sonya’s opening line: “Hi, Mandy. Talk nerdy to me 😏” They started messaging each other soon after and memories were jogged of their speed date! The messages and texts lasted for hours, all day and into the night. They planned their “next first date” for that coming Friday and when Mandy arrived at their booth at BO-beau in Long Beach, it was #love3yearslater. ❤️💙

💙 For Mandy: With the help of Sonya’s sister Sophya, she set up a candlelit Harry Potter-themed proposal with the perfect opal ring with 3 white sapphires signifying the 3 years it took for them to find each other again. Mandy answered “Of course I’ll marry you!” Just the night before while still in Texas, Sonya asked Joe and Kathy Bardisbanian for their permission to marry their beautiful daughter. And the day after the proposal, Sonya arranged a surprise celebratory brunch with our closest friends in LA. ❤️ For Sonya (completely unexpected): With the help of an awesome bar owner in San Francisco, Mandy rigged a win at Drag Bingo and ended up on stage during the show to serenade Sonya with “Marry Me” by Jason Derulo. With drag queens as her back-up dancers and the audience cheering her on, Mandy got down on one knee and Sonya said “Yes!”
