In February 2021, Gil and I came across each other's profile on a dating website. We both took time to get to know each other on the surface and found enough common ground, attraction, and interest to arrange an in person date. It was March 6, 2021, Gil drove to Amarillo from Lubbock where he was living at the time to meet me at Joe Taco's on Wallace Blvd. There is a fun fact about this trip to Amarillo. It was also Spring Break for his son, who was staying with him so Gil let me know that he would be coming too. However, he was going to do some fly fishing while we were meeting. Initially, the forecast was cloudy and cool with some wind. Shouldn't be a problem, right? This is where our plans changed. A super cold rain & fog with major winds came in as Gil was driving to meet me. His son ended up having to be on our very first date with us. I had never experienced a date quite like this nor had Gil and I can only imagine what his son was thinking. LOL It all aligned and honestly Gil's son broke the ice for us, kept his dad honest, and made us laugh the entire date. I learned a lot about Gil that day, which enticed me into talking and seeing him more. We spent a lot of time together and took several trips together to Fredricksberg, Dallas, Washinton DC, and Florida while we dated and each day we grew closer. He confessed his love for me early on, but I was slow and cautious to do the same. Finally after knowing our love for the Lord, our character, ambitions, values, meeting our families & friends, and so much more about each other; I had fallen for Gil too. While in Dallas on a beautiful walk along Lakeside Park in front of these beautiful huge lilly pads on the water (there's another story there that Gil has to tell) I said for the first time, " I LOVE YOU". At that moment, we both knew that we wanted this to be forever. Our journey's have been long with many blessings and trials along the way. Our experiences in life are very different, but it brought Gil and I together in the Lord's timing. I have prayed for a man to live life with and be my husband. Gil has prayed for a woman to share life with in Christ and be an equal partner. Our prayers have been answered and we found our true love. We are excited to be on this journey together and are grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way and will continue to love on us as we become husband and wife.
