Mandy and Conner had never been to Epcot, and now, hand in hand, they were finally here, taking in the sights, smells, and sounds of the World Showcase for the first time. Mandy was absolutely enchanted by the France pavilion. “This is gorgeous,” she said, spinning slightly as she took it all in—the cobblestone streets, the glow of streetlamps, the soft sound of French music in the air. “I feel like we just walked into a little Paris.” Conner smiled nervously. “Yeah, it’s amazing.” But his heart wasn’t pounding because of the scenery—it was because, in just a few moments, he was going to propose. As they neared the fountain in the center of the pavilion, Conner gently tugged her hand. “Let’s take a picture here.” Mandy turned to him, eyes shining. “Good call. It’s perfect.” Conner took a deep breath. “Actually… there’s something I want to do first.” Before she could respond, he dropped to one knee. Mandy gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. “Mandy,” he began, reaching into his pocket. His fingers fumbled slightly as he pulled out the wooden box—so much so that he didn’t even realize he was holding it upside down. Her wide eyes darted between his face and the box. Then, to his surprise, she let out a soft, breathless laugh. “Conner,” she whispered, eyes shimmering. “I think the box is upside down.” Conner’s heart stuttered. He looked down—sure enough, the ring was facing the wrong way. His face turned bright red as he quickly flipped it over. “Well, that wasn’t smooth,” he muttered with a nervous chuckle. Mandy giggled, tears forming in her eyes. “Not at all. But please, continue.” Conner let out a breath and found his words again. “Mandy, this is our first time here, but I already know I want to share everywhere with you—for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?” Mandy didn’t hesitate. “Yes!” she cried, dropping down to hug him before he could even slip the ring on her finger.
