An iconic feature of downtown Omaha, Gene Leahy Mall is the most urban of The RiverFront’s three parks, spanning from 13th to 8th streets, with towering buildings on either side. Since its inception as the Central Park Mall in the 1970s, this area has remained rich with Omaha history including the Solo Building archway and beloved slides, both located near 11th and Farnam streets. In the 1990s, Central Park Mall was renamed Gene Leahy Mall after former Omaha Mayor Eugene A. Leahy. The RiverFront features a performance pavilion for live music, a sculpture garden filled with interesting works of art, a state-of-the-art playground, water features, and a modern dog park. We have enjoyed strolls through the park, splashing around in the water fountains, racing down the slides, and running around the playground. Definitely a great retreat in downtown to check out with your kids.

Lazlo's brought Nebraska its first restaurant-and-brewery, or brewpub. When we go to Lazlo's Brewery we enjoy their beautiful fireplace, outdoor patios, hand-crafted ales, happy hour specials, and an extensive children’s menu. We recommend trying their amazing THICK cut hand-breaded onion rings with ranch, Burgers, and a tasty beer flight of hand-crafted ales served straight from Lazlo’s in-house brewery, Empyrean Brewing Co.
Twisted Fork has been a staple ever since Nicholas moved to Nebraska three years ago, as it was the first place him and his parents tried in the state. Also, a beautiful Valentine's day spot we have enjoyed together, and overall our regular spot when we are in The Old Market. We suggest the fried pickle spears or artichoke & spinach dip as a starter. Mandy orders the lobster bisque soup and the truffle chicken pistou with a mojito; Nicholas orders the bacon swiss chicken sandwich with a variety of mules. Larry (Nicholas' dad) highly recommends the bacon gouda pork chop. They also offer an appetizing brunch with mimosa flights.
RUNZA!!!! A Nebraska fast food tradition and staple. Referred to by Luke Bryan as the best "meat pouch sandwich thing ever" GET A RUNZA AND A FRING. the original fries and onion rings combo because us Nebraskans don't want to choose. Pick from original runza, spicy jack, mushroom swiss, BBQ bacon, and more. If its good enough for Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade to dress up as for halloween, you don't want to miss it.
Fazoli's is a unique casual fast food Italian resteraunt, highlighted by their low price Italian favorites and mouthwatering butter soaked breadsticks. Great place to take the kids for sit down or drive through. Aspynn's favorite! She recommends the unlimited breadsticks and alfredo!
