During the summer of 2013, Joe agreed to help out on a short film. Seeing as how the film was being shot in Wilmington, he took the Metra down from Chicago. When he arrived at the station, he was told a red Hyundai would meet him there to pick him up. He waited over 30 minutes before the car showed up. There, in the driver's seat, was Mandy. They didn't talk much during their first encounter nor did they have a chance to speak while shooting. It wasn't until two days later when Joe needed to go back to Chicago that he needed another ride. The only available PA with a car was Mandy. It was then that they got to really know each other and ended up talking during the whole car ride. Thinking that he wouldn't get another chance to see her again, Joe asked if she wanted to hang out sometime and she agreed. The rest is history...
Mandy’s friend Mark was making a short film and asked his friends if they could help. Mandy has helped Mark on a few of his other projects and was excited to work on the set of For Ian as a PA. When she arrived in Wilmington for her first day on set she found out that there were three people sitting at the New Lenox train station that needed a ride. Since she was one of the few people with a car she volunteered. She had Tony would go with her because she didn’t want to pick up three random people by herself. When they arrived at the train station, instead of three people, there were two. They were very quiet in the backseat, except for one of them complimenting her Back to the Future sign. That person turned out to be Joe. She brought Joe and Andy to set and then resumed her PA duties. On Friday she was able to come back to set and one of the producers told her someone needed a ride again. It turned out Joe needed a ride back to the train station. On the way there, they talked nonstop, and Mandy ended up missing the turn to get closer to the train. She asked if Joe could walk but he asked her to pull closer. She was annoyed that he couldn't walk a block to the train station and drove around. She kept running into one way streets and farmer's markets. She told him she was sorry if he missed his train. But in her head she was thinking it would be his fault if he did. Once they arrived at the train station, he asked if he could see her again and if she would give him her phone number. She said yes and the rest is her-story
Joe and Mandy had a date night at Navy Pier scheduled on Monday August 5, 2019. Mandy was hoping something would happen, so she wore the dress she wore on their first date. When she got to Navy Pier, Joe was still stuck at work so she was waiting around for him; which is funny because on their first date, Mandy was running a couple hours late and he had to wait two hours for her. When Joe arrived he wanted to see the new changes that had been done to Navy Pier, so they walked all the way to the end. Then he saw the photo booth and asked Mandy if she wanted to take a photo. For those of you who know Mandy know she loves taking photos. Especially in photo booths. After they took the first photo, Mandy was too focused on her crazy eyes to notice that Joe was taking something out of his backpack. When he asked if she wanted to marry him, she thought he was messing with her. It took her a second to realize what was happening. When she finally realized it was really happening, she said yes! And it was the perfect proposal with a ring that fit perfectly :)
