We were both looking for new careers and ended up in the same dental hygiene program at VCU. As the Senior Class President, Andrea mentored Matt in his corresponding role for his Junior class. A friendship soon turned into flirty text messages and we finally went on our first official date on February 3rd, 2017. We went to a cute little diner in the Fan (Richmond, VA) with the intention of seeing LaLa Land in theaters afterwards. Caught up in conversation, we quickly lost track of time and missed our showing. We ended up walking back to Andrea's apartment and snuggled up on the couch to watch a movie there instead!

Matt is not very good at keeping secrets. I knew he had a family ring and was planning on proposing in the near future. We had planned a hike for Matt's birthday weekend in which he was planning on popping the question at the top of the mountain. I totally suspected it! Unfortunately the night before, we decided to postpone due to the weather. Apparently this was not the first time Matt's plans had been ruined and he didn't want to wait any longer. We were watching one of our favorite shows at home when Matt slipped away and unexpectedly came back with a ring box, went down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! I was completely caught off guard but of course I said yes! I'm not sure I would have been as surprised had he done it any other way.
