We met at a friend's birthday party. We were the only people taking the train back to Astoria from Brooklyn; so we talked the entire time home. Before departing the train, Marshall asked if he could take Megan out and she said yes. A few days later, Marshall texted Megan to ask if she would be interested in a "non-traditional first date." We dressed in our finest 20s garb and went to The Astor Room for an evening in an old school restaurant where we fit in along with the decor. It was a very good beginning.
Marshall, Lindsay (Marshall's sister), and I went to the Bronx Zoo on August 12th. Marshall and I call each other "significant otter" in part because they are one of my favorite animals. We went to see the otter exhibit right away. They were nowhere to be found. We went around the zoo to some other exhibits and came back an hour later. Still no otters. At this point, I'm getting bummed out and Marshall is internally panicking over the lack of otters. We come back a third time and see nothing but a tail. Then we ask the staff at the exhibit when the otters come out. They direct us to the children zoo where we manage to see Radish and Saffron (the real MVPs of this whole proposal). While Lindsay distracted me, Marshall got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Then he asked me to be his significant otter, which I enthusiastically said YES!
