FAQs

Question

Help! Flights are confusing!

Answer

YES THEY ARE! There are unfortunately no direct options. We're happy to help you plan your flights. Please reach out! Iasi has direct flights to a few separate destinations, and it's worth checking to see if booking separate legs of the journey individually is cheaper/easier than searching for the entire journey at once. Some cities with direct flights to Iasi: - Dublin (also has a direct option to/from Seattle) - London (also has a direct option to/from Seattle) - Istanbul (also has a direct option to/from Seattle) - Rome, Paris, Milan, Brussels, Bucharest (not direct from Seattle) Notes: - It will take +1 day to get to Europe, and not all destinations have flights to Iasi every day, so check the calendar. - On the small European carriers luggage is often not included (even carry on) so make sure you add-on as needed. - If you're planning to go on the excursion after the wedding and are worried about timing, it may be easier to fly out from Bucharest as there are usually daily flights to most locations within Romania. Waiting until the itinerary is finalized would be best here so you can plan accordingly. - If you go through Dublin, the best option is to take the red-eye from Seattle and then go direct to Iasi. There will be a ~5 hour layover and you will get there the day after you fly out. Dubin-Iasi is not available all days of the week. - If you fly through London and plan to take a direct flight from there to Iasi, you will have to change airports! The option is to either take a red-eye which arrives the following day, and then transfer airports to catch the connection same-day (9 hour layover), or take a flight the following day (which will put you +2 days to get to Romania).

Question

Will I need cash?

Answer

A great number of places accept credit cards, but cash is still king. It's good to have some on hand for street vendors, taxis, and small purchases. It's usually better to convert money there rather than in America. The best rates are usually from withdrawing straight from an ATM, so bring a debit card with a chip as well as a credit card without foreign transaction fees for best results.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

The cities are super walkable! However, taxis are a good option as well, and very reasonable in price.

Question

Where should I eat in Iasi?

Answer

Honestly, wander around and try things out! However, a few recommendations: - La Conac - Felix - Toujours - Select (Patiserie for baked goods & drinks - try the "trigon de nuca" for sweet or "macedonie cu telemea" for savory) - Petru (for "Covrigi" aka pretzels! Or you can try the competition, Luca) - Krud Restaurant - Gist Cafe
