Stay wherever is most comfortable! Athens and the surrounding areas have many options for lodging. For larger groups, villas (such as those for rent on Airbnb or Vrbo) are your best bet. Our recommendation would be to stay in the towns around the venue -- Vari (where the venue is), Vouliagmeni (where the church is), Voula, Glyfada or Varkiza. You can also stay farther away in Athens proper if you prefer. The city center is about 30-55 minutes away from the venue, depending on traffic. You can always map the distance from where you are staying to the venue address (27th km of Athens - Sounio Av., 16672, Greece) to get a feel for how far you are. If you are staying in Athens proper, the best way to get around is by foot, cab or public transportation. If you are staying in the suburbs of Athens (Vouliagmeni, Vari, Glyfada, etc.) you can take cabs but may want to consider renting a car as places are less walkable outside of Athens. Use the BEAT app or the Uber app to call a cab on demand.
Yes, there will be shuttles between the church and the venue on the wedding day. There will also be shuttles to drop off points in the surrounding areas after the reception. You are also welcome to drive, but please know, while there is parking at the venue, there is limited street parking at the church.
