How We Met

"Your next relationship will not start at Baylor Orientation and Line Camp."

"When I started a summer job working for Baylor after my freshman year, this was the one phrase our leadership team would repeat. I would laugh along with everyone else because I had no intention of starting a relationship that summer but it was always a funny joke. I arrived for camp and thankfully Chase was friends with one of my close friends (and now bridesmaid, s/o Amy!) so we quickly became friends. Over the summer I started to realize that I really enjoyed being around him and that I would look forward to seeing him throughout the day. He constantly made me laugh and was so intentional with his time and friendships. The last week of the summer he pulled me aside to ask if he could take me on a date when we returned to school, and that was all I remember from the conversation because I pretty much blacked out from nervousness. After our 5 hour first date, I knew he was something special. It took me 6 months to know I loved him and a little over a year to know I wanted to marry him!" -M "I went in to that summer not looking for a relationship with anyone at Line Camp. Meghan was in the small group I led and I thought she was a great girl, but didn't think much more of it (sorry Meghan!). As the summer went on, we got to know each other more and I realized just how incredible she was. We kept talking and I knew by the last week of our job that I wanted to date this girl. Soon I found myself falling for her and so much so that I offered to talk to her on the phone for her entire 5 hour drive back to Corpus Christi. When we came back for school in the fall we went on our first date--that did not go according to plan thanks to a monsoon in central Texas--but it was a wonderful night and I realized this could be the start of something truly special. After a year and a half I knew she was the one I wanted to spend forever with. Now almost four years later I feel like the luckiest man alive for getting to call Meghan my fiancé and soon to be wife!" -C
