Maya Lynn “My My” Robinson. (Lynn is not her middle name :-) ) It all started on the third floor of Dowell (D3 as we called it) in the year 2008 :) It was probably during our sacred Minority Mentors festivities that I met my sister from another mister for the first time. Pretty sure I noticed a sparkling smile so warm, so bright, it put the sun to shame. I might have even grabbed a pair of shades to see who it was lol it didn’t take long to realize that Maya’s heart and loving personality outshined her pearly whites. I think we might have connected on southern families, fashion, and bringing people together back then. I also think we both made it our duties to really check on everyone and make sure we were all still alive. After all, between the ninja squirrels, cockroaches on speed, Krystal’s runs at 3 am, and constant all nighters… tomorrow wasn’t always promised. Lol What was promised though, was Maya… there to love, support, and encourage you… in 2008, through college, after college… and now- still… listening to you, checking on you at 2 am I in the middle of saving lives in the nursing unit, and planning the next big way to celebrate or surprise you and to pass that big ole smile from her face to yours. Maya, I LOVE YOU! I am SO HAPPY for you, and I CAN'T WAIT to celebrate you how you’ve celebrated so many of us over the years. CHEERS 🥂 to you and Antoine!

One of my favorite memories with the beautiful bride-to-be is the train trip to D.C. that Maya and I took in summer 2022. The train ride gave us plenty of time to catch up on life. Even though we lived in the same city, our schedules rarely aligned, and it was always challenging to find time to be in the same place and enjoy each other’s presence. That day, however, was perfect. Once we got to D.C., we explored some of the monuments, visited a local bookstore, found a street festival and snacked on empanadas, and enjoyed one of our favorites: authentic ramen. We made it back to the train station with plenty of time to spare and treated ourselves to delicious chocolates to enjoy on the ride back to Baltimore. As a travel companion, as a sister, and as a friend, Maya does a wonderful job of making simple activities memorable and meaningful. Thank you for such a beautiful day - here’s to many more!

Maya and I met in undergrad at Mercer University freshman year where we were assigned to be roommates. When you entered our room, you would think you were seeing double; two minifridges, two microwaves, two snack shelves, as we are both only children. Mercer must have known what they were doing because it's 15 years later and we are still going strong. You have become a sister to me, and I am so happy to be part of your special day. I wish you, Antoine, and Desmond all the love and laughter as you embark on this new chapter of your life and pray that your relationship continues to grow.

Maya and I both graduated from Mercer University however our paths did not cross until we, both wanting to work in healthcare, started working/shadowing at Central Georgia Heart Center in Macon, GA. She quickly became one of my closest friends as we spent hours a day together working side by side while navigating some of life's big milestones. One of my favorite memories we share is cooking in my tiny apartment for our company potluck around the holidays. We did more laughing, gossiping and talking about life than cooking and ultimately, she had to stop me from accidentally cutting my hand off several times but it was such a sweet moment in our friendship.
Maid of Honor
I met Maya Junior year at Mercer. Somehow, we had managed to move in the same circles at Mercer without actually meeting each other. When we finally had our first introduction, I had this overwhelming desire to crack jokes with her like we'd known each other for years, and that was very unlike me. I immediately wished we'd met sooner. So much wasted time! I didn't know I was meeting someone who would become one of my best friends, but clearly, it was destiny. I mean, we have the same name! Robinsons for life! I love you lots, and I wish you and Antoine all the happiness. I must say, it’s a noble act.

Maya and I met when we were in the Master of Public Health program at Mercer University. She and I bonded immediately and became like sisters. We did a lot of things together like going shopping, doing homework, taking Bentley for a walk in the park, going to the beach, going to whatever fun events happening in town, and so many more. Being the awesome sister she is, she even brought me along to the job she got after graduating from the public health program. She would always look out for us and would always find something fun for us to do. I will cherish all the fun times she and I had together. Having so many memories with Maya makes choosing a favorite one particularly difficult, but the one that stands out the most is when she and I went to New Orleans for a conference. We decided to be adventurous and took the train. We had so much fun on that trip! Maya, I love you and I am so happy to be a part of this life-changing moment in your life. As you transition in to this new chapter of your life, I pray that God will lead you and guide you, and may He shower His blessings and favor upon you and your new family!
