How We Met

It was love at first message...

David and Taryn do not have a super sappy love story of how they first met (match.com!), but instead would like to share a little about their first conversation online... David introduced himself, (he was a perfect gentleman if you were wondering...), and told Taryn a little bit about himself, including that he had underwent a kidney transplant 8 months ago. Side note: For those of you who don't know David as well, he was healthy his whole life until the end of 2015, when he started having headaches and felt extremely tired. After some routine blood work at the doctor's office, he was told to go to the hospital immediately. The next day, David and his family learned that he was in end stage renal failure and would need to be on dialysis until he could receive a kidney transplant. We could go on and on about this amazing story, but through the grace of God, the support of David's amazing family and friends, and the most generous gift from David's Ph.D. classmate (Clay), David received a kidney transplant in May 2016. He is fully recovered and doing great! Taryn was at her sister Megan's house in Lexington, KY when she first received David's message. Megan frequently enjoyed browsing Taryn's match.com/bumble matches in her free time and sending/responding to messages from potential boyfriends for her sister. Taryn allowed Megan to read David's message, but Taryn was the one who responded, because she was excited about this one! Since Taryn is a pharmacist and works with children that have undergone renal transplants, she knew all of the immunosuppressant agents David was on. She responded with a message about herself and shared that she was also on one of the same immunosuppressant agents he was on, because she had recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. How romantic! Anyway... Taryn and David met in person shortly after that first message and went on their first date in Lexington, KY. David proposed in April 2018 and the rest is history :-)
