It was Anthony's junior year at Harvard and my sophomore year at Columbia. We were both on spring break and happened to walk into the same Punta Cana discoteca. He had a flat top and I was wearing my tallest heels. After a fun night of dancing followed by a few carefree days surrounded by friends, sunshine, and endless mojitos, it became clear that this serendipitous spring break meeting could be much more.
Manali and I took our first trip together to the beautiful island of Maui. We spent a week hiking, snorkeling, and exploring the often treacherous road to Hana. I dazzled her with my skills in the kitchen and have been responsible for feeding her ever since.
Anthony asked for my parents' blessing to propose in their native language, Marathi. He practiced for weeks to impress my parents with his flawless pronunciation. After having some fun with an initial Marathi response loosely translating to "go take a hike!" they were thrilled to oblige.
During a trip to Florence, I took Manali to Piazzale Michelangelo under the guise of a romantic birthday sunset. After mustering the courage, I dropped to a knee with the view of the city behind me. There was a large crowd of onlookers who took candid photos and videos and cheered when Manali said yes!
We brought home a rambunctious little goldendoodle, Nori. Since then she has brought us endless love, energy, and snuggles!
We moved in to our new home in San Francisco with the help of friends and family. Special thanks to everyone who pitched in!
We are very excited to celebrate with you on a day we will remember forever!
