We met at our very first restaurant job at the Ruby Tuesday's in Columbia off Snowden River Parkway. Come to find out, we had grown up down the street from each other for most of our lives but had never met. Though we came close to dating, it was instead the beginning of a friendship that would only continue to deepen over the years.
After years of friendship, we decided to make a go of it romantically. We had been working together at a different restaurant, Houlihan's, and after a night out our long hidden feelings came to the surface. Shortly thereafter we went on a date and made things "official."
We went to our favorite neighborhood tavern in Fells Point for dinner one night, both of us enjoying our meals as usual. On the walk home, I bored him with some complaints about my week while he "listened" in silence. In the doorway of our house, keys hanging from the lock, Trevor interrupted me with, "I know you're talking right now, but will you marry me?" I was so bewildered by the timing that I said, "thank you," before I remembered several moments later to say yes. And then we were engaged! The whole thing was as awkward as I would expect from the two of us, but perfect just the same.
