How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Nathan and Mallory’s story officially began in middle school—back when life’s biggest decisions were which color rubber band to put on your braces and who you were sitting next to on the bus. They first crossed paths at the local skating rink, where everyone pretended to be good at roller skating but mostly clung to the wall for dear life. If they weren’t doing that, they were at whatever sporting event was happening that week. By high school, their friendship naturally grew into something more. Their first official date was a trip to the movies, and from then on, they were each other’s go-to date for every homecoming, prom, and school dance. After graduation, college took them in different directions—Nathan went to Juniata and played football, and Mallory went to UPJ for teaching. Despite the distance, they made it work. Mallory often drove up to watch Nathan’s games and spend weekends together, and the two settled into a routine that kept them close even when their schedules were full. After graduation, Mallory got a job at their hometown school district teaching special education. Nathan took a different path and went to the PA State Police Academy. He graduated and was stationed in Lewis Run, PA for three years. Mallory continued her weekend-warrior routine—this time trading a college dorm for a rural apartment and enjoying summers in a place that most people need Google Maps to find. After years of juggling school, sports, careers, and long drives, they have finally made their way back home to Somerset, PA—right where their story first began. And the rest? Well… that part’s just getting started.
