Michael and I have known each other since we were as little as five years old. His family lived down the street from my grandparents in a town called Owensboro, KY. One of my favorite memories as a kid was visiting my grandparents and seeing the Mills family. We would spend summer days swimming in the pool, playing kick the can, climbing trees and of course the occasional flirting :). Michael and I actually had a fake wedding when we were 10 years old...lol! As we grew with age, our feelings also grew. Unfortunately we lived too far from each other to ever think about starting a relationship. In high school we would text here and there, but that was all. One day we found out we were both attending Western Kentucky University. From the first day of our freshman year at WKU, we were inseparable. We made it official on October 8th, 2016. From playing kick the can, to a fake wedding at ten years old, all the way through college and to now being engaged; we have been through so many chapters of our lives together and we can't wait to start this one.
Almost six years later... Michael finally popped the question! It couldn't of been a more perfect day. Everyone had me fooled! I thought my sister Macey and her husband Joseph, were having a derby party at their house. Because it was Derby Day, I didn't suspect a thing! Early that morning my sister and I started decorating and getting things ready. Little did I know, I was helping set up for my own engagement party. Around 3 PM, everything was ready and the party was about to start (I still had no idea). Michael asked me to grab the appetizers from his parents house with him. When we got over there, there was a sign hanging up that said "Mallory, will you marry me?" The sign was extra special because Jessica (Michael's sister) painted it for us. When I turned around Michael was on one knee. I about passed out I was in so much shock, but of course I said "YES!" A couple minutes later all of the most important people in my life surprised me and we celebrated all night long. May 7th, 2022 was absolutely perfect and It will always be one of my most favorite days.
