Flight
Naples is the nearest airport to the villa, with easy connections by train, bus, or taxi for a smooth and convenient journey.
Train
Paestum is the closet station to Giungano. The trains run from Naples to Paestum every 30 minutes and are about $15 each way. We booked our train rides through Omio which is a third party app that is very user friendly for English speakers. Once you arrive in Paestum, it’s just a short 10-minute car ride to the villa.
Travel Note
Giungano is located approximately 6 miles from the Paestum train station. While Uber is occasionally available, it isn’t always a reliable option, so we recommend booking a local taxi. We personally used Taxi H24 Pecora (+39 333 598 1636) and paid €40 (~$50) each way. You can text the company through WhatsApp to help coordinate a time and place for pickup. Please note that the taxi's take payment in cash (Euro) and will not accept USD or card.
Rental Car
Budget, AVIS, Enterprise, Sixt, Europcar, Alamo, and Hertz are all reputable rental companies with rental cars available in or around the Naples airport. Automatic transmission's are not standard so be sure to note if your rental is automatic or manual. If you plan to drive, please note that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required in Italy. You can easily obtain one through AAA before leaving the US, but you must have it in hand before you arrive. Driving in Italy also involves unique regulations, such as ZTL (Limited Traffic Zones) found in historic centers; entering these without a permit will result in an automated fine. Additionally, highways use the Tutor system to calculate your average speed between points. We recommend researching Italian traffic laws before deciding to rent a car.
