**UPDATE** Dear Family and Friends, We hope that you are healthy and staying safe during these unprecedented times— we have been thinking of all of you. Despite this viral pandemic, we had been holding out hope that someway, somehow, we could salvage our wedding plans and have the opportunity to celebrate with all of you. Unfortunately, now that we are a month away, we must accept the reality of the situation. Out of concern for your well-being, and how unpredictable the next few months will be, it is with heavy hearts that we are making the very difficult to decision to cancel our wedding. As you might imagine, it is a bit of a crazy time for us: between working at our hospitals in Connecticut, planning our move to Georgia, and starting our new jobs, it is not feasible to postpone/reschedule at our venue, even with a modified version of our original vision. After over 8 years together, we were so looking forward to bringing all of the people we love together on our wedding day— we hope you know how much we wanted you to be with us for this exciting life event. But these circumstances are so unusual. Our lives are in flux, and because we truly do not know when it will be safe to gather again, our new plan is to have a very small ceremony with our families when we can, finally get married (!), and start our lives together. We miss you already. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in what we imagine will be lots of amazing ways over the next few months and many years to come. We love you all, Daina and Jonathan #mallengotblitzed P.S. The new "wedding date" you see is there as a ZOLA requirement. There is no new date.
In 2011, after finishing college in Boston and Philly, we met in New York in medical school, where we started off as great friends, and soon we were powder-seeking ski buddies in winter. After a series of magical medical school moments, we realized we had something pretty special, and moved to Connecticut for residency together in 2015 (...Atlanta will be next for Daina's first attending job, and Jonathan's rhinology fellowship!) Over the next 8+ years, as we became doctors together, we continued on our adventure, traveling to Greece, Turkey, Costa Rica, Canada, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and all over the USA, with friends and family in tow. We became intertwined with each other's family, and lucked out with having the two greatest groups of siblings in the world become great friends. Despite our rigorous and demanding lives, we feel so lucky to have found one another, and we are so grateful to have all of you by our side. We can't wait to celebrate with you! And now, on to our next adventure!
