We’re getting married!

This is one of my favorite stories! During the summer Erica works at Mahoney Golf Course as a beer cart/bar girl. Tyler golfs in league at the same course on Wednesdays. Erica ended up covering a couple Wednesday shifts, and boy is she glad she did! She saw Tyler walk in the clubhouse with his mouth full of pin prize papers and a hand full of pin prize stakes. It just so happened that Erica was standing in the right place at the right time. She scurried over to help him before everything slipped out of his hand... Fast forward to the following Wednesday. Guess who was working and who came to golf?! After a round of golf, Tyler and his work buddies always stayed for some pub mix and beers. (I bet you can’t guess which fella bought the pub mix that night!) As Erica was standing behind the bar, trying not to stare, she saw Tyler get up and walk towards her. Both of them were so nervous, but it was obvious that they were both excited to see each other again. Throughout the night as Erica was walking around cleaning tables, Tyler’s buddy, Ryan (Eddy), kept asking Erica questions about herself. Tyler had it pretty easy. He just sat back without saying a word and soaked up all of the information. At last Eddy says to Erica, “Do you like to golf? You should give Sims your number and we can all go sometime!” Erica didn’t think twice about it! Once her digits were in his phone he made sure it was a valid number and the rest is HISTORY! <3

Sushi is ALWAYS a go-to for Erica & Tyler. Tyler suggested getting sushi for supper that night. They usually went to Blue Sushi, except for on special occasions. For their first date and one year anniversary they ate at Hiro 88. "Sushi kinda sounds good. We haven't been to Hiro for awhile. Would you want to go there?" This was Tyler's way of trying to hide something from Erica. She had an inkling that something MIGHT be happening that night, as it wasn't necessarily a "special occasion" as far as she knew. The two of them attended church at St. John's that evening and then made their way to Hiro 88 where Tyler had made a reservation for them. Tyler wasn't really acting nervous that day. However, he gave Erica an awkward hug during church. She later found out that the ring had been in his vest pocket during church and while they were eating dinner. He was trying to hide it, of course! Waiting for the right moment! They had wonderful conversations at dinner but Erica just kept thinking and wondering, "Is he going to do it tonight?! How is it going to happen?!" They went back to Tyler's apartment as plans hadn't been made for the rest of the night. They were deciding on where they wanted to grab some drinks and if they wanted to invite friends. While this was going on, Erica was having a dance party with Frank (the dog) and Tyler was pacing back and forth. Usually Tyler joins in on the dance parties...not that night. He was too nervous and was deciding when he wanted to drop to a knee. In the middle of a song change, he did it! Tyler took a knee and asked Erica to marry him. At first Erica just kept saying his name and hiding her face. He asked again and she said, "YES!!" He had to push away from the hug in order for Erica to put the ring on. They both shed some tears and shared a special night with close friends and family. This was the most perfect, simple proposal for the two of them. They are so excited to continue their life journey together!
