Join us as we celebrate the unexpected love story of Malisa and Sinthuran, two souls brought together by a swipe, a joke, and a shared love for sushi and adventure. We're so excited to share our special day with you! In the heart of Markham, just a mere three-minute drive apart, Malisa, a quiet, soft-spoken girl with Guyanese roots, and Sinthuran, a boy who journeyed from Sri Lanka to Canada in his youth, could have crossed paths countless times. But fate, as it often does, had a different plan. Their story began with a swipe right on Tinder and a famously lame pencil joke that, to Malisa's surprise, actually made her laugh. A convenient midpoint at Subway at Middlefield and Steeles led to their first meeting, and Sin, ever the spontaneous one, took them on a drive that serendipitously landed them at an amazing sushi spot – a perfect match! As their connection deepened, pizza nights at Sinthuran's became a regular occurrence. Sin, with a mischievous grin, introduced Malisa to his mom as "just a friend," leading to many movie nights under the same guise. Little did his mom know, their friendship was blossoming into something much more. The introduction to Malisa's family was a bit more of an ambush. Sin thought he was just meeting Malisa's siblings and her sister's new baby for ice cream in Unionville. As they approached The Old Fire Hall, Sin froze, spotting Malisa's parents. He even tried to turn around and walk the other way! But he gathered his courage, met them, and was immediately invited to their house a few dates after. That meeting proved to be a turning point. Malisa was finally free from the usual questions about her whereabouts and who she was with. The next seven years were filled with adventures from hiking trails, bike maps, beach trips, camping in the wilderness, cozy cottage weekends, and unforgettable travels to the Dominican, Republic, USA, UK, Europe, and Africa. Fast forward to the proposal. Morocco became the setting for the next chapter of their incredible adventure. Sin's mom, subtly playing her part, mentioned wanting new family photos. So, a photoshoot was planned at a beautiful riad. Little did Malisa know, this was a carefully orchestrated setup. After capturing some lovely family photos, an unexpected twist occurred. Malisa was blindfolded, told that Sin’s mother was also blindfolded. The photographer then gently took her hands and guided her up a set of steep steps, leading to the riad's rooftop. As Malisa reached the top, she could hear the photographer's camera clicking away, still blindfolded. Malisa's heart skipped a beat as she saw Sin, down on one knee. Tears welled up in her eyes as he spoke, and without hesitation, she said "YES!" The rooftop of the Moroccan riad became the backdrop for their forever.
