We’re getting married!

Malik and I met while attending University of Maryland Eastern Shore. It was my junior year and his senior year. We both majored in Criminal Justice and met in our Exercise Science class. Our teacher put us in groups to get to know one another, and that we did! Our conversation started on the topic of tattoos and how he told me that I needed to “step my game up", at that current time I only had one. We then began to laughed and joked about people in the classroom as if we had known each other prior. Class ended, and I didn't get his number. Second day of class, Malik walked into the classroom being his friendly, outspoken person he was and asked me how my weekend was. I told him, "it was ok." He asked if I attended any parties over the weekend I said, “no, I didn't really know about them." Malik then he told me that his friend, Sean was a Dj and that he always doing parties and how I should “come through.” I responded with sarcasm, “well how would I know when he is having a party.” He told me, “ I will text you!” We exchanged numbers then...BOOM ladies and gentleman the rest is history!!!

Malik and I had distance relationship for quite sometime. We made it work the best way we knew how, which was to visit each other every other weekend. We took turns going to see each other. I loved visiting him in New York! June 2016 is when the distance between us ended. Malik received a job opportunity in Anne Arundel County and was able to move to Baltimore County where I was. At that moment we realized how serious we were about each other. We would like to thank our families for putting up with us and letting us stay in their homes. We appreciate the accommodations you set forth to help us make our relationship work.

Malik set up a romantic weekend in Cancun, Mexico for us. I was told back in July, that this trip was my birthday gift. The day of the proposal, we had a beautiful breakfast out by the pools, he then had a spa day scheduled for us. The spa day ended with 1 hour massages for both of us on the beach, that was set up so beautifully. When I woke up there was a beautiful sunset, and I saw him down on one knee asking for my hand in marriage. I can never forget that day. It was so perfect I could not have imagined it any other way.
