Don't miss the beautiful ancient city of Ayutthaya which was founded in 1350! Its rich history can be visited on tours, or by yourself with some good taxi planning. Go to Ayutthaya to visit the old Thai temples and learn more about the history of Thailand (all the way back to before Thailand was named Thailand). You will see people dressed in traditional Thai dress that is there to rent if you want to! Oh, and while you're here...don't forget to ride the elephants!
Yaowarat, also known as Bangkok's Chinatown, is a spot you don't want to miss! This beautiful neighborhood is a top destination in Bangkok mixed with Chinese and Thai culture. During the day it's filled with rich history, temples, and shopping. At night it turns into a food festival with some of the best seafood, Chinese-inspired dishes, and our personal favorite, Yaowarat toasted buns. This spot is busy, so get ready for big crowds, but you won't regret spending an evening here! (see google for more reviews, and different tour packages)
This is one of our favorite shopping spots in Bangkok, and is basically Amazon in person! Almost everything is "one size fits all" so if you're looking for larger sizes, it might be harder to find. But if you're looking for gifts and nicknacks, Platinum has it all. It is also right next door to CentralWorld, another big mall in Bangkok, so if you come to Platinum stop and check out CentralWorld too!
ICONSIAM is one of Bangkok's most iconic malls. Along with hundreds of shopping spots, Siam is located right alongside the Chao Phraya River and has a park area with beautiful Thai trees, a public pier, a sculpture plaza, and the longest water fountain in Southeast Asia. Siam also often hosts various festivals and art exhibits throughout the year. Visit their website to find out what events will be available in June!
You can ride elephants in Chiang Mai too! Chiang Mai is one of the bigger cities of Northern Thailand, and is surrounded with mountains and beautiful rice fields. There are many different Elephant villages in the surrounding areas that can be visited on tours. See the link for some different villages, and tour options!
