It was summer in NYC, 2014 when Malia and Josh went on their first date. They will never forget the romance of summer, walks in central park, eating oysters in Chelsea Market, getting caught in summer storms, catching fireflies. It felt cinematic as these two hearts fell in love. They first met working at a restaurant in the west village, Monument Lane (RIP), Josh cooking behind the line, Malia serving upstairs. Malia remembers seeing Josh on her first day when she was getting a tour of the restaurant. He was leaving the locker area and they caught eyes! She then called her mom saying she thought a cook at work was really cute. Months had gone by, Malia and Josh sharing one sentence histories of their lives, but it wasn't until a work hang that these two finally were drawn together. They had a couple beers, confessed how much they liked each other, Josh asked her out, and then the rest was history. JUST KIDDING, that would be too easy. Malia was dating someone else at the time and her heart was torn! Out of respect, she declined Josh's offer and she walked away, palm in face, because EVERYTHING WAS SO CONFUSING. Well, Malia and this other guy clearly were not meant to be, and she wondered why Josh had stopped asking her out! He had "gotten the picture," but she clearly didn't. One night at the west village restaurant, Malia asked Josh for drinks after work and fireworks sparked. Within that first week of dating, both Josh and Malia knew they were meant to be together and THEN the rest was history.
We were planning on having our big wedding in Big Bear, CA in August 2021, but due to uncertainties of everything going on in the world, we decided to cancel that wedding and have a very intimate wedding with our immediate families and wedding ceremony members. Although we are not able to celebrate together with all of our friends and family, we are very excited to celebrate in the future! With that being said, we would love all of your support, maybe a video message, a letter of wisdom. Josh and I would not be here without your support and love in our lives. Taking one moment at a time, one breath at a time. Love is everywhere. Here is to celebrating life and love and community regardless of how close or far away we are. Our deepest gratitude and love to all of you! xx, Malia and Josh
