Malia and BT grew up just 20 minutes apart but never crossed paths until they both ended up at Clemson University. Although they had mutual friends, it wasn’t until Malia was accepted to Clemson that BT reached out to congratulate her. Nothing came of it at the time, but fate intervened when they ran into each other in October 2018, downtown Clemson after a sorority event. That was their first in-person meeting, and soon after, BT asked Malia out on a date. Their first outing was to Charleston Sports Pub, where Malia was either really sick or really nervous (maybe a little bit of both!), and couldn’t even take a bite of her food. They both enjoyed getting to know each other, but as the semester went on, they grew busy and drifted apart. In May 2019, they reconnected. Since they were both from the same area, they hung out before Malia left for her study abroad trip to Italy. While she was away, they kept in touch through daily texts, sharing how much they cared for each other, but agreed to remain friends. When Malia returned, they quickly reconnected, and BT realized he was falling for her. From that point on, they talked every day, and their connection only deepened. In August of 2019, after Malia returned to Clemson for cheerleading work week, they started spending almost every day together. One day, Malia’s car broke down, and although BT had no clue what to do, he rushed over to help. He ended up replacing her dead car battery and, from there, they began spending even more time together. As they hung out with each other and their friends, they unknowingly began to fall in love. One Saturday night, after briefly talking about their feelings for each other but not knowing what the right move is, they decided to go to church together the next morning. After the service, Malia admitted she wanted to explore a relationship and BT was over the moon. Soon after, they officially started dating, and it was the best decision they ever made!
