This park is the pride of our neighborhood - we live just a few blocks south of it, and our wedding will be just a few blocks north of it. The farmer's market has the best produce, art, handmade goods, plants, treats, and eats every Saturday from 8 AM to 12:30 PM! They also have pickleball/tennis courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, and lovely walking/biking/running paths if you need some outdoor movement time.
Bigger than Central Park and so so beautiful! Home of the 1904 World's Fair. Forest Park houses our zoo (FREE!), art museum (FREE!), history museum (FREE!), science museum (FREE!), planetarium, outdoor theater (the MUNY), ice rink, boat house with paddle boat/kayak rentals, golf course, and more. Lots of running paths, play spaces, and nature trails!
FREEEEE! Incredible collection that can keep you wandering around all day. Optional rotating paid exhibition. One of Malia’s favorite places in the city!
Malia’s absolute favorite place in the city. Impossible not to have fun here, and you will never find anything like it anywhere else in the world. Bring kneepads or wear pants, your knees will thank me later. (Photo by Malia of their 10-story slide.)
Visit America's smallest national park! If you've never taken the tram to the top of the Arch, DO IT! There's also an extensive museum about Westward Expansion underneath the Arch. Book your tram ticket in advance because they sell out sometimes! Fun fact: Dan tried to propose to Malia here, but Malia unknowingly shrugged off the planned photo opportunity. (“We’ve been here before, we don’t need our friends to take a photo of us.”) Oops.
STL's oldest neighborhood! Check out the Soulard Farmer's Market, the oldest market west of the Mississippi. The Anheuser-Busch factory is also in this neighborhood--take a tour and get plentiful beer samples! Lots of great coffee (Goshen, Protagonist, Antagonist), restaurants (Bogart's, Pizzeoli), shops (Clem & Co.), and cool historic homes to see.
STL's historic Italian neighborhood. Lots of great food (Pizzaria de Gloria, Nicky Slices, Gioia's, Sado), bakeries (Missouri Baking Co., Vitale's), coffee (Shaw's), bocce (Milo's), and shopping (Herbaria, Maven, Volpi, Hill Antique Market) here.
This neighborhood is where most of the students at Wash U spend their time for good reason. Concert venues, shopping, and sooo many options for delicious food and drinks. We love joining the waitlist at Corner 17 (worth the wait every single time) and walking down to get fun international snacks at United Provisions or baked goods at Tous Les Jours while we wait.
These are the restaurants Malia and Dan have been to enough times to give a fair rating. 5/10 is considered average.
