The Proposal

March 27, 2021

Every month we set aside an entire date day to spend with each other, alternating who is in charge of planning it. This is a chance to slow down our busy schedules, and really focus on us as a couple. Our dates have been full of adventure, romance, many laughs, drinks, and of course loads of food. On the months that James plans, he makes a "Date Card" with clues as to what activity we're doing for the day. The clue for March was, "Let's get creative with our hands..." The day started with Tim Hortons and a road trip to Rochester. "Let's get creative with our hands..." ended up being a personal sushi making class where we got to make all our favorite rolls! James then had a shopping spree planned at the "At Home" store to decorate our new house. The spree ended quickly once he realized how late it actually was, and that we had to be somewhere at precisely 6:00 p.m., but we were all the way out in Rochester. Before attending whatever he had planned at 6 o'clock, we stopped back at our house to freshen up. On the way to the destination, James said that we need to stop at my parents to get my swim suit for our date...in March. Instantly, I said to him, "I'm okay with just dinner and then calling it a night." I was not about to get into a swimsuit in March after a long winter full of snacking! James insisted that it would just be us, so we headed to my parent's house. When I walked in, I was greeted by a photographer, a trail of rose petals with candles, and the song we listened to on our very first date. The trail led to a huge sign saying, "Will You Marry Me?". I turned around so beyond excited that I didn't even let him get a sentence out before saying, "Yes!" As soon as I said yes, my entire family came out from hiding around the house. My mom cooked my all time favorite meal; burgers, dogs, and macaroni salad. We had a mini cookout to celebrate, while the photographer captured all those special moments. It was everything I could have asked for and more!
