Our story

First comes ice cream, then comes marriage.

Malaki and Josie’s love story started in the most romantic place a 15-year-old boy could possibly choose: Dairy Queen. It was almost seven years ago, and Malaki showed up nervous but trying to play it cool — the kind of cool that mostly just looks like a teenage boy pretending he’s not sweating through his shirt. Then Josie walked in, and just like that, he forgot every normal, smooth thing he could’ve said. So instead… he talked about football. And also wrestling. The. Entire. Time. Game stats, big plays, matches, takedowns, positions — if it involved a field, a mat, or a scoreboard, he covered it. Passionately. Thoroughly. Possibly without breathing. And Josie? She just sat there smiling, chin in her hand, watching him light up while he talked. She didn’t just see a boy going on and on about sports — she saw his heart. His dedication. His excitement. The way he cared deeply about the things he loved. Somewhere between bites of a Blizzard and a very intense breakdown of a football game and a wrestling match, Josie fell completely, hopelessly, head over heels for him. Malaki left that night thinking she was the prettiest, kindest girl he’d ever met… and wondering if he’d talked too much. (He had. But it absolutely worked.) Years passed. Seasons came and went. Games were played, matches were wrestled, and life kept growing around them. What started as teenage butterflies and Dairy Queen napkins turned into late-night talks, big dreams, long prayers, inside jokes, and a best-friend kind of love that feels steady and safe. Now, almost seven years after that very important Blizzard date, they’re getting married — not just because they fell in love in high school, but because they kept choosing each other every single day after that. From Dairy Queen to “I do.” And somehow, their love story is still the sweetest thing on the menu 💛🍦
