Travel Note

TRAVEL WITHIN KYOTO

Download the Uber app and set up your account with a credit card so you can pay directly in the app. Bring a debit card and use Google Maps to find a 7-Eleven—most have ATMs with English options. Japan still relies heavily on cash, so plan to withdraw some yen. You don’t need to use a currency exchange. Check with your credit card company about foreign transaction fees. If there are none, you can use your card at many places. From Kyoto Station, an Uber or taxi to the wedding venue costs about 4,300 yen (~$27 USD). Google Maps is very helpful for getting around—it can suggest trains, buses, and other transit options to reach your destination.

Travel Note

Wifi

Check with your cell carrier if Japan service is included in your coverage. If not, download the app (Airalo) and purchase an e-sim for access to Japan cell service or rent a pocket wifi.
