Our love story (in Erica's words): We had lived just a handful of miles apart for years, but had never crossed paths. Then ironically we met on an online dating site, after Dylan moved 30 minutes away to attend Medical School at the Colorado University School of Medicine in Denver. We chatted for weeks due to Dylan being away on a rural rotation, & when he returned to town he offered to pick me up for dinner at 5pm. I thought he must have a second date that night, because why else do you schedule dinner for 5pm? He later said it was because he wanted to spend as much time with me as he could (a risky gamble given it was our first date). It turns out he didn't have a second date that night- ours went for over 4 hours- and we have been inseparable since. Covid presented unique challenges this past year as Dylan had rotations throughout the hospital system. Since I work daily with my family (two of whom were at high risk of Covid), we often went weeks without seeing each other, then periods of isolation, and between the two of us, more Covid tests than I can count. A few days before Christmas, Dylan left to run some errands, but in reality he was orchestrating a phenomenal surprise proposal with the help of my family. They choreographed a perfect ruse, and I arrived at my brother’s house to find rose petals, romantic music, and Dylan in a suit with champagne and roses. We’ve been on cloud nine ever since.
Due to Dylan’s constantly evolving school schedule, and our eagerness to start married life together, we have made the difficult decision to host a “Covid micro wedding” this spring with immediate family only in attendance (in accordance with local gathering restrictions). We are beyond disappointed that we will not be able to have our extended families and friends celebrate with us. This isn’t what either of us wanted, or planned, for our wedding. We both come from close, fun, families and have a multitude of friends we wanted to include in our big day. However, this past year has taught us how precious our time is together, and frankly, we don’t want to waste a minute. We are going to livestream our wedding ceremony on April 17th at 2pm MT if you would like to tune in. Just check out the instructions below to watch it live on YouTube! We look forward to introductions and celebrations with everyone as our travels take us around the country in the coming years. With love, Dylan and Erica
