Greg and Jess first met in Birmingham, Alabama when starting their PhDs at UAB. Several years later-- sparked by simultaneous trips to Europe and mistakenly sent texts about Paul Simon-- a beautiful friendship began that over time developed into the love they now share. On New Year's Eve on a rooftop in Paris during the last few moments of 2019, Greg proposed that they be together-- for not only the next decade-- but for the rest of their lives. Jess wholeheartedly agreed.
Following their engagement, Greg and Jess initially envisioned a wedding shared with family and friends from near and far. However, a few months into 2020, it became clear that a shared gathering would either need to be postponed or reimagined. After much thought, Greg and Jess decided to reshape their plans to adapt to these unexpected circumstances. On Saturday October 24, 2020, Greg and Jess plan to exchange rings and vows and be married in the presence of Sofia (Maid of Honor). Though family and friends will be unable to physically gather for this ceremony, their love and support will undoubtedly be present.
When circumstances allow for safe gathering, Greg and Jess plan to renew their vows and celebrate their marriage in the presence of family and friends. The date and location for this event is to be determined.
