Great for camping, hiking, fishing, and kayaking!
Huntsville is known as Prison City, Texas and is home to TDCJ and seven prisons, including the Walls Unit. Not exactly a "happy" topic, but the museum is pretty cool!
This is a cute little park for a quick picnic. There are several historic homes related to Sam Houston on site, as well as a museum. You can also drive by Sam Houston's grave in town or check out the Big Sam statue off I-45!
Amazing cajun food! It has grown into a whole food truck park and outdoor area, so you can enjoy food, ice cream, and a cold drink!
This is a cool steakhouse in a large historic home in Huntsville!
Good, down-home Southern cooking! The sweet tea comes in a mason jar, as it should.
Jeff and I go on hikes here all the time! Very easy to get to and very easy hiking. Great place to get away from the sounds of the city.
If beer is your thing, this is a really fun brewery with a large outdoor area. They often have live music, too!
This is a great place to visit if you have little ones!
We went on our first date here! We also had dinner here the night Jeff proposed! I recommend the giant pretzel or Austin fries :)
This is a little further away, but this is our favorite museum! Even if you can't go this weekend, you should visit sometime. It's amazing!
If you want just a fun, short outing - try black light mini golf! Great for all ages!
The Waterway is beautiful if you want a nice date night without the craziness of downtown Houston. The fairy lights are beautiful at night, and there are so many good restaurants! We recommend Churrascos, Morton's, and Goose's Acre.
Good food, eclectic environment!
AMAZING barbeque!!! They also have great chocolates. Odd combo, I know! And for you mead drinkers, there is a meadery called The Thirsty Bee just a block away!
This is a cozy little winery in The Woodlands that we just found recently! It's a lovely place to just sit outside and relax while sipping on wine. They usually have live music, too!
