When it comes to an adorable meet-cute and a “how we met” story that our children will swoon over, “he swiped right” typically doesn’t come to mind. I was very afraid that I would not be able to recognize love when it found me. Though I knew, I hardly realized that I have been been preparing myself for this kind of love. If it were not for OkCupid, I would not be marring my best friend. Though this is not the typical lovey-dovey "how we met" story, it is my favorite love story. We decided to meet for the first time at Sertinos Café, and a cup of coffee turned into a four hour long conversation. Joe asked me to officially be his girlfriend on November 30th, 2015. This day is my favorite day of my life thus far. I did not know what life had in store for us then. The constant comfort of having Joseph Grey by my side has made me feel like I can do anything. I have always worked hard and set goals to better my future, but having him here is humbling- having him here has made me see beyond myself. My goals are now his, and his goals are now mine. I am not ashamed of saying that I would prefer to build a life with him than try to strive for greatness on my own. I see us pushing each other further, and neither of us satisfied until the other is happy. I love you, and I like you Joseph Grey. - Love your fiance, the future Mrs. Mindi Nicole McGreevy
Most people think of some romantic place to propose, planning a strategic time and place to swoon their soon to be fiance off their feet. Our story is more unorthodox, as always. After a long day of swimming with dolphins and soaking in the sights and sounds of Cozumel, Mexico, we were relaxing and having drinks on the Carnival Valor. I was nervous about bringing the ring with me in a pair of swim trunks, knowing that I would never forgive myself if I misplaced it. I could have proposed in a scenic location on board, but I was too nervous about making a scene. We finally made it back to our room and Mindi was heavily preoccupied looking at the photos from our adventures that day. I had already made up my mind that I was going to propose and couldn't hold it in any longer. I remember saying "Hey.." and she replied with a distracted "Hmm?" while still looking at the photos. I pulled the ring out of my pocket and asked the most important question of my life. Her answer set the course of our future together. - Love your Fiance, Joseph Grey McGreevy.
