In August of 2019, Makhali moved into an apartment with friends. She knew everyone there, except the one new roommate who had just returned to school after taking some time off. A few days after Nate moved in, she texted her mom and joked, “Do I marry him now or later?” Six years later… here we are. Nate and Makhali first met in Syracuse, NY, when Nate moved into the top floor of the house they shared with friends. They quickly became close, and just one month after meeting, Nathan asked Makhali to be his girlfriend on September 26th, 2019. In 2022, they moved to Tennessee together so Makhali could return to school, while Nate launched his own construction business. Their love continued to grow, and on September 26th, 2025, their sixth anniversary, Nate proposed. Now, Makhali and Nate are overjoyed to be celebrating their seventh anniversary surrounded by the people they love most. See you on September 26th, 2026!
