Jayden and I met at Houston County Community Hospital in late August of 2020. He had just started working in the ER and I was working as an ER Registration Clerk. Our mutual friend, Lynn DeSimone, introduced us. My friend, Hali Sanders, had texted me telling me he was perfect for me before I ever even met him. Fast forward a few days later, Jayden was slick and snuck me his number on a piece of paper. I made him sweat by not texting him right away. When I finally texted him, we started getting to know each other better. Soon after that we made plans to go on our first date.
As we all know, 2020 was full of COVID. Jayden had been working in Memphis for the first half of the year, then decided to leave the trauma center and move to New Zealand. He had his heart set on this plan, but it just didn't quite work out. COVID had shut down all the traveling in and out of New Zealand so he couldn't get there. Lynn had started working at HCCH and tried getting Jayden to come work there but he was not interested at first. Finally, he decided he would go help her out. I had been working at HCCH for about a year and a half. The day I met Jayden is the day I turned in my two weeks notice so I could start the job I have now. I had interviewed for this job in July of 2020, but they didn't call me back for a second interview until mid August. There are so many circumstances that could have been different. If COVID hadn't happened, Jayden would be living in New Zealand right now. If my boss had called me in July, I wouldn't have been working at HCCH when Jayden started there. If Jayden had been a little more stubborn and kept telling Lynn no, our paths may have never crossed. I truly believe that when something is meant to be, everything will fall together perfectly; that is what had to happen in order for Jayden and I to even meet.
