Activities

Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum

650 Jefferson Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20004

This museum has long been one of D.C.'s most popular and has recently undergone a massive renovation. Timed (free) tickets are required, and we recommend you book them in advance.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

1400 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

This museum will take your breath away, but make sure to allot a few hours for your visit. Like many of the Smithsonian's museums along the National Mall, this museum is massive!

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

A great museum for kids (and adults)!

Eastern Market

225 7th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Eastern Market is DC's oldest market, located in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood. There's a great street market on weekends, but everything is closed on Mondays.

Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium

5200 Glover Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20015

Rock Creek is also the only national park with an on-site planetarium. National Park Service Rangers conduct free programs twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays.

George Washington's Mount Vernon

3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, VA 22121

Walk through George (and Martha!) Washington's home and gardens just 15 miles from DC. Tickets are required. Mt. Vernon is not metro acceptable.

There are several locations around town for this popular option for bagel sandwiches and coffee.

Purple Patch

3155 Mount Pleasant Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20010

One of our favorite date night options. The lumpia is delicious!

St. Vincent Wine

3212 Georgia Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20010

This is where we had our first date!

Union Market

1309 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Warehouse-like food market with a host of artisans offering charcuterie, empanadas, gelato & more.

Bandit Taco

1946 New Hampshire Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

One of our go-to's for a quick lunch or dinner!

Busboys and Poets

Casual American fare with an all-day breakfast menu.
