Julian and I met during our freshman year of college through some mutual friends. We would hang out in a large group everyday for months and it wasn't until we had a class together that we began to connect. After that we would sneak away from our friend group time to go have ice cream dates and go hammocking. A friend asked me a few weeks later what Julian and I had going on and I did not have an answer for her. We then finally discussed the idea of being official at about 3 am in the middle of February and the rest is history.

Anyone who knows anything about Julian Hester knows that he is terrible at keeping a secret, and this proposal was no different. In March 2023, we went to Dublin to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. On the day before we were going to leave, we were walking to dinner and Julian requested we take an unplanned detour to the gardens behind Dublin Castle which we had previously been to. We walked in and found a quiet corner where he first asked me "you know exactly what is going on here don't you?" We both laughed about it for a minute before he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After a yes and some tears, we left the gardens and went to enjoy our first evening out as an engaged couple.
