Our story began in an unexpected place — sophomore year Spanish class, right before the world paused due to COVID. When school finally resumed junior year, we found ourselves back in Spanish together once again. What started as simple conversation quickly turned into a genuine friendship. We bonded over and laughed at the fact that neither one of us could properly speak Spanish! We both shared a love for sports — baseball and softball — and somewhere between walking together to practices, classes, and laughter, we became inseparable. That summer before senior year, Clayton was often found tagging along to my sisters soccer games, driving 30 minutes just to pick me up and go door dashing for fun, even if we were “just friends.” Eventually, one of us decided it was time for the other to take the hint — and thankfully, it worked. On September 3, 2021, after a high school football game, we officially became a couple. From that moment on, our journey truly began. Though life took us into new seasons — including college years — our relationship only grew stronger. Distance, growth, and time confirmed what we already knew: this was something God had been writing long before we realized it ourselves. What makes our story even more special is knowing that God had His hand in it from the very beginning. From moving across states, to choosing schools, to crossing paths at just the right time, we truly believe nothing about our story was accidental. On January 4, 2026, we took the next step toward forever. With full hearts and no hesitation, we said yes to a lifetime together — as best friends, high school sweethearts, and soon to be Mr&Mrs! April 19, 2026 We said "I Do" and became The Hortons! We chose to make this moment intimate and personal, exchanging vows privately followed by a ceremony with just our parents by our side — a day that was simple, meaningful, and full of love. While we began our marriage this way, our story wouldn’t feel complete without celebrating with all of the people who mean so much to us. So instead of a traditional wedding, we’re planning a special celebration — an elopement party — to share this joy with you. We can’t wait to gather, celebrate, and make memories together as we begin this next chapter. — Makayla & Clayton Horton
