When Makayla was 15 she moved across the country to Little Rock, Arkansas. 3 days after moving, Makayla went to hang out with a bunch of people she would be going to school with. Bennett was the first guy to talk to her and invited her to the swimming hole the next day. Makayla instantly noticed how good-looking he was and the Chacos he was wearing (not her favorite fashion choice.) His kindness was really comforting considering Makayla was the new girl. Makayla did not go to the swimming hole the next day because, to her disappointment, Bennett had a girlfriend... Fast forward to a year later, Bennett was single, and they had a class together senior year. Bennett went home after the first day of class and told his mom that Makayla was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. They both clearly flirted with each other during class. In the second semester of senior year, the class played Kahoot to review for a test, and Bennett made his nickname "Makayla love me." He said, "if I win the game you have to love me." Makayla laughed at him because she knew he wouldn't get the answers right and she would. To her surprise, he was getting the answers right. She was in first place and he was in second place, and there was one bonus question left. Makayla didn't know the answer and had to guess. And Bennett took his guess. Well, Makayla got the answer wrong and Bennett guessed correctly. He won the game. A few weeks later, they were dating...and they've been together ever since.

On a snowy December night in Colorado, Bennett and Makayla took a walk around the town. There was no one else out there that night. Bennett kept the ring in his pocket all day because he had no idea when he was going to pop the question. It was just the two of them. Bennett stopped in front of a beautifully lit tree. He talked about everything that had led up to that moment. Then he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him...and she said yes!
